Every year, 19 international teams compete in the BMW Motorrad GS Trophy, one of the world’s most famous motorcycle races. This year, the competition was held in Southeast Asia for the first time. From February 26 to March 5, 2016, athletes competed in various events throughout the region to take home the coveted trophy. Shangri-La Chiang Mai was honored to cater the entire event.

Soon after scouting began, colleagues at the hotel recognized an opportunity to support the local community. Colleagues invited the team at BMW to donate sports equipment, board games and hats to students from low-income backgrounds at Baan Tung Gong Moo School in Mae Hong Son province.

Together with BMW Motorrad, Shangri-La Chiang Mai bought sports equipment and games such as footballs, basketballs, table tennis supplies, volleyballs and more to donate to the school. During the donation hand off, the students were entertained by BMW Motorrad competitors as they arrived in gear and showed off their motorcycles.
